“Getting out of prison is only the first step. True freedom begins when you find the strength to help others stand on their feet.”

Story & Mission in the Association

Former political prisoner, public activist, co-founder of the Association of Political Prisoners of Belarus (APBEL).

⚖️ Political Persecution & Conviction

Prior to his arrest, Dzmitry lived in Baranavichy and managed a regional commercial bank branch. In 2020, he openly supported peaceful protests against falsified presidential elections and state brutality.

On November 16, 2021, he was detained by security forces and sentenced under Article 342, Part 1 of the Criminal Code to 3 years of restricted freedom in an open-type correctional facility ("khimiya").

Starting May 2022, he served his sentence in Facility No. 6 in Kobryn district. In autumn 2022, facing severe regime raids against political inmates, Dzmitry escaped from the correctional facility and crossed the border into Lithuania.

🤝 Public & Human Rights Activism After Release

In Vilnius, he conducted workshops to promote an entrepreneurial culture among young people.

In 2024, he co-founded the Association of Political Prisoners of Belarus (APBEL). Today, Dzmitry leads the Association's Vilnius center.
